WRC 9 powerslides onto Xbox One, PS4 and PC

Xbox One
wrc 9 launch

It may not have a street release date until September 3rd, but should you wish to get in on the powersliding action provided by WRC 9 on Xbox One, PS4 and PC, then your time is now as the Deluxe Edition serves up some awesome early access rally action.

WRC 9 is NACON and KT Racing’s latest and great rally sim, taking everything that was learnt and honed from the previous games in the series – our review of both WRC 7 and WRC 8 can be taken in if you wish – to provide gamers with the most immersive, most realistic title yet.

Available right now via the purchase of the Deluxe Edition from the Xbox Store for £58.49, which allows for early access, the arrival of the Toyota Corolla 1999 and Audi Quattro A2 1984 in your garage, the Barcelona Super Special Stage and a lovely little boost to your career development, WRC 9 promises to deliver a new benchmark in the off-road simulation game. And when you consider just how good DIRT Rally 2.0 is, that’s some statement.

This time around though KT Racing have ensured there is no stone left unturned, providing players a host of rally options which include new racing events found in Kenya, Japan and New Zealand, alongside a number of brilliantly designed game modes which deliver a community feel. That includes a new Clubs mode, which allows players to create their own championship and make it available for their friends or the whole community. They can select the vehicle category, championship conditions and up to eight special stages in their choice of country.

But that’s not all and alongside the 50 official teams that are present from the WRC, WRC2, WRC 3 and Junior WRC levels, come 15 bonus classics that have left a permanent mark on the history of the WRC. You could say that this game is overflowing with cars and content and if you’re up for the rough and ready challenge that the career will deliver, it looks to be one to seriously consider.

And then there are further updates planned too, and whilst we would much prefer these came at launch – c’mon guys, a delay isn’t the end of the world – this game will have a longer lifespan thanks to several free updates after the game’s release. The new content to be added will include an awesome sounding Co-driver Mode, where two players can play together as a team online and enjoy the real rally experience, whilst an even more complete game is promised with the addition of a photo mode, as well as new cars, teams and special stages in the Portugal and Finland rallies.

Our full review of WRC 9 is in the works and will be with you in the days ahead, but for now go and grab that Deluxe Edition from your favoured store – Xbox One, PS4 or PC – or just hold tight until that September 3rd official release date for the £49.99 Standard Edition. Failing that, there will be Xbox Series X, PS5 and Nintendo Switch editions dropping later down the line.
