The hump of the month is always a much anticipated time for Xbox gamers, as it is then were we see the next batch of free Xbox Games With Gold titles emerge. And guess what, that time is now as we find Warhammer 40,000: Inquisitor – Martyr and Overlord II on Xbox One and Xbox 360 stripped of their price tags.

Following on from previous Xbox Games With Gold freebies for May 2020 – V-Rally IV (which is still free until the end of the month) and Sensible World of Soccer (which is now going back up in price), come two new freebies to enjoy – with the unmistakable Warhammer 40,000: Inquisitor – Martyr covering the Xbox One base, and the hugely entertaining Overlord II working the Xbox 360 and Xbox One Back-Compat route.

Taking the first game first (because you know, that’s always a good place to start) and Warhammer 40,000: Inquisitor – Martyr first rolled out on Xbox One back in 2018. Usually priced at £33.49, if you are tempted by the Warhammer life but haven’t the wallet to allow for such a purchase, then you are now quids in. Thrusting you into the life of an Inquisitor, Martyr will allow you to play through an action packed RPG either alone or with friends (locally and online), taking in the huge open world and completing a variety of missions.

Our full review of Warhammer 40,000: Inquisitor – Martyr will be able to deliver further insight, but with plenty of content included, a decent smattering of visuals and audio and absolutely shed loads of loot, it’s well worth you taking in. Especially now that it is free. Just make sure you action your download for this one before the middle of June.

Sitting pretty alongside Warhammer though is the brilliant Overlord II. Whilst not quite as exciting as its predecessor, this is a must-play title for anyone looking for a romp through the Netherworld. Full of humour, it’ll be up to you to become the Overlord, directing various minions to carry out your plans to their best efforts. With a ton of opposition to take down, and lovely cute creatures to murder, kicking back with Overlord II always raises a smile.

A standard price of £8.99 shows that this is a game that has been around for a while – near on a decade in fact – but if you haven’t previously fallen for what the Overlord series brings, then now is as good a time as any. Just pop over to the Xbox Store and grab your free download of that prior to the end of May. It’s just a shame that Codemasters’ follow up to this – Overlord: Fellowship of Evil – was such a letdown.

So, go grab your new free Xbox games right now. And make sure you let us know what you think of this latest batch of freebies by dropping into the comments.
