September 15th 2020 is a date that has been etched into the minds of Xbox gamers for some time. Why? Well, it ushers in the next step in world domination as Cloud Gaming comes to the fore, letting players do away with their console and harness the power of the cloud – and Xbox Game Pass – to play on the move. Today it has been confirmed that more than 150 games will be available in the launch line-up, whilst 5 new titles have also been revealed for upcoming Game Pass glory.
With Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, Xbox gamers will now be able to play their games on an Android device, making the most of cloud gaming, and enjoying the flexibility and freedom it allows. We’ve recently tested the whole service with the stunning Razer Kishi for Xbox, and have been mighty impressed by what it brings. But now as September 15th rolls into view, the whole thing is opening up to a wider audience, letting gamers in 22 countries play via the cloud for no extra cost.
Xbox saves reside in the cloud and so that means you can take your game from console, to mobile, and back again, with ease and with nothing stopping you from gaming. And whilst you’ll need an Android device – no iOS support for now – if you are sorted in that regard, there is nothing to stop you. It’s helped that Minecraft Dungeons will be available with fully optimized, native touch controls, and a redesigned UI for easy navigation on smaller screens.
Xbox Game Pass – and especially Xbox Game Pass Ultimate – has gone from strength to strength since first inception, and if you thought the first 150+ games were good (full list of those at the bottom of this piece), it has also been revealed that 5 new titles will be soon joining the service. These are…
- Sept 17th – Company of Heroes 2 (PC)
- Sept 22nd – Destiny 2: Shadowkeep and Forsaken (Android & Console)
- Sept 22nd – Halo 3: ODST (Android & Console)
- Sept 24th – Night in the Woods (Android, Console, PC)
- Sept 24th – Warhammer: Vermintide 2 (Android & Console)
So, what’s stopping you from being a full-on 24/7 Xbox gamer? The answer? Nothing. Just kick back, controller in hand and you’ll find a hugely enjoyable time however you decide to game – with console, or without.
