There’s more to these mountains than their imposing heights – they also have their own sub biomes, including lofty peaks, snow capped peaks, snowy slopes, mountain groves, and mountain meadows. Plus, a fabulous mob is making a special (re)appearance: the glow squid! Not in the mountains, though. That would be weird (and cruel)!
JOIN THE BETA TODAY
Not only is a Minecraft beta a fun way to get early access to new features we haven’t yet released, but it also helps us test and improve them. We’d love to hear your thoughts and feedback on this early iteration of the new mountain generation feature, which you can submit at our feedback site. If you’re interested in joining the beta (available in Windows 10, Xbox One, and Android versions) then check out our guide to learn how.
To get a taste of the new mountain climbing (or watching from afar) experience, make sure to enable “Caves & Cliffs” in the experimental features toggle when creating a new world. If you already have a world you’d like to try it on, then choose “Edit” instead, scroll down to “Experiments”, and select “Caves & Cliffs”. Don’t forget to make a copy of your world before you try it out, as betas tend to make them incompatible with future versions. Found a bug? Please report it using our Issue Tracker.
For more information on this beta, head over to our complete changelog for an exhaustive list of changes. Experiment away and watch your step!
